Marine UXOs are proving to be a relatively new problem for the fast-growing US offshore wind market. As an example, Ørsted recently found 11 UXOs in the waters near Rhode Island, US while conducting a marine survey. It’s long been an “out of sight, out of mind” situation, explained Andrew Elvin OBE, a former Royal Navy expert in unexploded ordnance and President of the American arm of EODEX. EODEX has an environmentally way of dealing with UXOs....

As prime supporters of Joanna Lumley’s #StopSeaBlasts campaign, we were delighted to be with her in Westminster today to welcome the interim statement issued this morning by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, setting out that Low Order techniques, such as Low Order deflagration, are the preferred option for clearance of UXOs needing to be cleared to make way for offshore wind farms and other projects.
This is a great day for EODEX UK LTD, ALFORD Group and everyone else who is involved with the campaign.

Scottish MPs have joined calls for the UK government to tighten regulations to ensure offshore wind farm developers dispose of unexploded mines and bombs littering the seabed in a way that doesn’t harm marine wildlife such as dolphins, whales and porpoises.
